Mike McQuatters is one of the most decorated youth soccer players ever to come out of the Syracuse area. He played for the first Syracuse Blitz team. His Blitz Magic team won 9 state cup championships, and was a regional finalist twice. He made the Varsity Soccer Team at CBA as an 8th Grader. Mike started every game of his varsity career, and captained the team for an unprecedented 4 years. He won 3 Sectional Championships, and in his senior year, he led his team to the State Championship. Mike is the only boy’s soccer player at CBA to make All-American. Throughout his youth, Mike was a member of the ODP program, where former US National Team coach Bruce Arena, and current Men’s National Team Coach Bob Bradley, coached him. He captained the Region 1 Regional ODP Team for 3 years. Mike also played for and captained the US Under 18 National Team in 1996 and 1997. On that team, he played with current US men’s national team players Tim Howard, Steve Cherundolo, and Carlos Bocanegra. He was a USA Today Top 25 Recruit and Soccer America Super 11 Recruit in his senior year of high school. He went on to play at a college soccer powerhouse, the University of Virginia. There, he won an ACC championship and was an NCAA Division 1 National Runner-Up.
Mike is currently the Head Coach of the CBA Girls' Varsity Soccer Team, where he has lead the team to national rankings during the season in 2 of his first 3 years. He also led the team to a Sectional Championship in 2005. Mike has been coaching boys' and girls' teams of all ages for the past 11 years. He took over his first club team when he was only 18 years old. He has won 5 state cup championships, and led a team to the regional finals. Many of his former players have gone on to play college soccer. He previously coached the Under 16 Boys Syracuse FC Team, and was the Assistant Coach of the Under 14 Girls Syracuse FC Team.
Tommy Tanner, a local soccer legend, is a Syracuse native. He attended Henninger High School before moving on to North Carolina State University. His professional experience included seven seasons with the A-League's Rochester Rhinos, and 14 years as a professional player with the Cleveland Crunch of the MISL. He was the winner of 7 professional championships. Tanner is the President of Empire USA Syracuse, and holds a USSF "B" coaching license.
